1. WHAT'S CD-COPS?

CD-Cops is a commercial copy protection. Software companys buy this protection,
so they won't have to spend too much time trying to do one themselves, but still
  get a quite nice protection.

2. HOW DO I RECOGNIZE CD-COPS?

Not very hard. Try running the .exe. If a window appears with the words 'CD' and 'COPS'
in the title, you can be quite certain it's CD-Cops.

There will also be a file called 'CDCOPS.DLL' in the main directory, and probably a
pair of files with the extension '.qz_' and '.w_x'.

3. WHAT'S THIS?

Most of the CD-Cops protected programs come with a file with the extension '.w_x'.
This .w_x-file is the original main-.exe before the application was protected by
  CD-Cops.

Sometimes, but not always, mcLallo's CD-Cops decrypter v0.9 beta manages to decrypt
those files, giving you the opportunity to write down the decrypted, CD-Cops free
  .exe file.

When this is done, and the saved .exe actually works, these files are no longer needed:

  the old .exe
  cdcops.dll
  *.w_x
  *.qz_

4. HOW DO I USE IT?

  Start it up.
  Press 'Open File'.
Go to the folder of your CD-Cops protected application.
  Choose the '.w_x' file.
Let the computer count from 0 to 255.
If nothing fails, press 'Save File' and choose a new file name.
  Done.

5. PROBLEMS

I've only seen a couple of protected applications myself. One out of 3 just didn't
work to encrypt this way. I'll try to find out why.

16 bits applications are not yet supported. (I've never seen one!)

Some CD-Cops protected applications doesn't come with an .w_x file. I'll try to come
up with something with them, too.

This is still a beta version. I'd love to get some feedback from anybody that tries
it, as I only got very few applications to test it on myself.

6. FEEDBACK

I'm able to reach at 'mclallo@hotmail.com'.

Please contact me if you stumble into a CD-Cops protected program that won't be
  decrypted correctly by my program!

If you just wan't to tell me how much you love me, or come with other proposals,
feel free to mail me, too!

7. OH, ALMOST FORGOT!

You are only allowed to use this program if you have BOUGHT the application you are
deprotecting. To deprotect a program and then spread it is illegal. In fact, I believe
it's illegal to spread it even protected! But that doesn't really matter. Thing is,
don't use this beautiful program to anything that in one way or another could be found
  illegal.

It's only ment for private use, to make your BOUGHT program start faster and easier
and taking up less hard disc space.

Have fun!
